These are just a few
of the things that these pesky little rodents can do. They can also cause
massive damage to your yard by digging little holes everywhere. They can
destroy trees, flowers and gardens. No wonder they have been voted the
number one nuisance animal in the gold old United States of America.
Here are a few tips to help you get rid of squirrels for good. First
remove their food source. If they are munching away on your bird seed,
you are going to have to remove it temporarily until you can catch them
and relocate them. Once you get rid of their food source it is time to
setup the squirrel trap.
Place the trap outside, near where the squirrels have been hanging out
and eating. You are going to want to use a something that squirrels just
can't seem to resist. Corn works very very well. Another great bait would
have to be pecans, they can be expensive but they will always lure that
little rodent right into the trap. If you can't get your hands on either
one of those you can always use good old fashioned peanut butter. I always
like to leave them a nice little bread trail that leads right up to the
trap.
Try to keep you squirrel trap somewhat camouflaged. Some people really
love squirrels and if they see you setting a trap they just might remove
it even if it is in your yard. Some folks get upset even if you are using
a completely humane Havahart trap. These are the ones that I recommend.
They are affordable, easy to use and extremely effective. I have seen
one of the Havahart squirrel traps remove 2-3 squirrels per hour.
Once you have caught the pesky squirrels what exactly are you going to
do with it. First make sure you cover the squirrel trap with an old towel.
This will prevent any injury to you or the squirrel. Once the trap is
covered. You can transport them far far away from your yard and let them
go. If the humane trap is not your style, you could always try shooting
squirrels. |
